SHOW CHOIR

SHOW CHOIR

Show Choir is a performance-based class, where students learn to prepare and perform a variety of styles of music. A strong emphasis is placed on complex harmonies and part-singing. This course builds upon the vocal techniques and fundamentals established in high school chorus. Students will explore choreography, as well as text interpretation, facial and body expression, and other performance skills. Pre-requisite: Student must be a member of high school chorus; audition.

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

This course is a performance-based class designed to help percussion students further their musical skills in addition to regular band class. Students will gain a greater understanding of various percussion/drumline instruments. Members of the ensemble will improve on their instrument technically and musically. Students will explore a variety of intermediate to advanced repertoire. Students will rehearse and perform with others. Prerequisite: Student must be a member of high school band.

COMPUTER

COMPUTER

Elementary: Computers to K-3 classes, includes keyboard familiarity, basic keyboarding, and educational online games. 8th grade: This computer class will receive typing training, computer applications for Microsoft 365, electronic file organization, word processing skills, and online publishing programs. Students will create, edit, collaborate, publish, and store material in a variety of online applications.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The Physical Education Program provides for physical, mental, social, and emotional skill development, which will aid them in everyday life and choices. The emphasis in the Physical Education program is to develop this understanding and skill through participation in physical activity. Activities include: Volleyball Speedball Soccer Track and field Agility development Badminton Aerobics Basketball Kickball

DRUM FIT

DRUM FIT

Drum Fit is a fun, easy to learn, but challenging workout for all levels and abilities. For those who have great coordination it is a challenge, but it is also accessible for those with no to low coordination. It truly does cater to every level of learner. With drumsticks, yoga balls, upbeat music and choreographed routines that combine both high and low intensity exercises, this is fitness on a whole new level. We burn calories, build muscles and learn some rhythm all while having fun!

ART

ART

In art class students will learn how culture and history influenced artwork over the years. The students will use visual structures, subject matter, symbols, and functions of art to communicate ideas and express meaning.

SCULPTURE

SCULPTURE

In our pottery and sculpture class we will use various supplies to create many abstract and creative sculptures. We will be making decorative clay vases and other clay designs to each student’s interests.

CRIMINOLOGY

CRIMINOLOGY

Criminology is an elective course designed to introduce students in grades 9-12 to the study of criminology. Criminology is the study of crime, criminals, and the criminal justice system.
